Fancy Jasper is a microcrystalline variety of Quartz, astacin dioxide mineral with a hexagonal crystal system and a hardness of 6.5 to 7. The name Jasper is derived from a Greek word meaning “spotted stone.” Jaspers can include up to 20% foreign materials, which account for its wide variety of colors and patterns. Fancy Jasper exhibits a wide variety of colors. It is found primarily in India. Fancy Jasper performs the task of helping one attend to the mundane details of life with efficiency and good humor.
